Tour of Ireland/All Ireland Semis

August 18, 2009

Heading down south this weekend to the family homestead. The Tour of Ireland starts on Friday just a few miles from my parents place and will feature Armstrong and Mark Cavandish, fresh from their Tour de France heroics. Popovych, Rubiera and Zubeldia will join teammate Armstrong.  and I’ll have the bike and hope to follow a little of the race. Whilst I hope to get close to the riders for the start of the race I don’t imagine I’ll get anywhere as close as some riders in Scotland.

Armstrong tweeted about riding in Scotland in advance of the U2 gig at Hampden and wondered was there anyone out there to join him. 300 apparently

A sadness however is the tragic death of Paul Healion, fine Irish cyclist who was scheduled to start for the Irish national squad in the race. He died in a car crash yesterday.

Then Sunday is the GAA All Ireland football semi final between Tyrone and Cork. Should be a cracker and I’ve got tickets for myself and the kids.

Nice.
