The Nicene Creed of David Attenborough

March 2, 2009

This comes from the consistently excellent sideways art, the work of Keith Drury.

I believe in one bang, Father Almighty of all life, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one cell the only-begotten of the great bang.  And I believe in David Attenborough the only-begotten Son of Natural History Programmes, begotten of the TV before all worlds; God of BBC, Light
of Light, very God of all things above and below the earth; begotten, not made, being of one substance with safari suits.

Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down through freeview, and was incarnate by the holy spirit of the virgin planet, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under extreme desert conditions; He suffered and was buried in swamp marshes; and the third day He rose again, according to the TV guides; and ascended into knighthood, and sits on the right hand of the Mountain Gorillas;

and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the unknowable and the unfathomable; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in one holy African jungle and the legendary Walking Tree of Donaghcloney.

I acknowledge one hushed voice for the transmission of sins;
and I look for the evolution of the dead,
and for the life of the world not to come.
