Road Trip

September 19, 2006

Bags packed, including the bike, for a short visit to the US. Flying in to Philly, then on to West Virginia – Elkins to Charleston, where we’ll join Rev Monty for a spin – then the Blue Ridge Parkway, where Tim is joining us for another spin, and overnight, somewhere! Finally on Saturday, down to Atlanta, flying home on Sunday.

It’s a quick visit to scout out half of the route of an Elkins WA to Port St Lucie FL cycle next summer, raising money for the Skainos Project. And it’s a good excuse to meet up with some friends en route, Ellis and Julie Conley in Elkins, Monty Brown, Tim Van Meter, David and Cameron Jones. It’s an amazing thing these days that distance is no barrier to contact. This year Julie, Monty, Tim and Cameron have been this side of the pond.

It’s also a second road trip with David and our bikes. In July we rode in the Alps during the Tour. Huge miles covered then, and anticipated in the next few days.

Not sure about posting between now and next week. You know what these Americans are like, can’t be sure to get internet connection(!), but I’ll do what I can.
