Angola Football

Watched the second half of the Mexico/Angola match tonight and was delighted to see Angola claim a point, and not just because they brought on a Leeds player towards the end. I was intrigued by the keeper, Pereira Joao Ricardo, who had a great game. I especially loved his Pat Jennings special, pulling the ball out of the air with one hand. Amazed too by the fact that he hasn’t had a club for a year!

But what really struck me was that he was 36 years old. Not too old for a goalkeeper, it must be said, but here’s the rub:
-the average life expectancy in Angola is, according to the commentator, 38
